A Christmas Carol Fun

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol has been the inspiration for dozens of movie adaptions, plays, musicals and even operas. On a smaller scale there are works of art, inspirational books & devotionals, crafts and much more. This page is a place to share those things I’ve personally found and briefly reviewed.

A Christmas Carol Crafts & Cooking

  • Cooking: If you need a copy of Charles Dickens’ original Christmas Carol text to read, why not pick one up that includes recipes? A Book-to-Table Classic edition of A Christmas Carol includes twelve recipes by Martha Stewart, Trisha Yearwood and others as well as beautiful food photography, side by side with easy-to-read, well-spaced text of the classic book. Of all the recipes in the book, the one I’m looking forward to trying most are the Fruitcake Cookies by Ina Garten (which you can find free on Food Network) … I love trying different fruitcake variations.
  • Woodcarving: Carving Scrooge & Dickens’ Christmas Carol Figures is a 44-page wood carving book with detailed patterns, carving and painting instructions for five of the book’s characters (Scrooge, Marley, Bob, Tim and the Ghost of Christmas Present [my favorite of the designs]). It also includes plans for an ‘Olde London Towne’ village. I am not a woodcarver, but I’m keeping this in my craft library in case my son shows an interest. Though out of print, used copies are available on Amazon, etc..
